Ex-North Adelaide player Peter Simmons has just been announced as Glenelg'd new coach for 2005. Unlike David Noble he will be employed part time. He has coached Adelaide Uni to a premiership and the Westies junior grades to premiership success. Glenelg is currently trying to woo a big name forward to the club. All is dependant on him getting employment preferably in sales with the building industry.

A great idea to get the boys together for a couple of beers over the summer. I'm in touch with about 4-5 of Snout Louts so let me know when and where. Most of them check Footy SA regularly so posting it there might be also be worthwhile. Do you know what happened to the forum on the Glenelg FC website?

Good to see that you are already in touch with the Snout's boy's . Very frustrating that the club has axed the mesage board . One of the GFC boys on footysa has indicated that the move is temporary. They have contact with some club officals so there may be some fact behind this posting. If not perhaps we can use this site but it could be difficult to co-ordinate posters from the offical club site. Pepi am I right that you played for the GFC in the past?

Recruited from Edwardstown in 1992. Played just the 3 league games for 5 goals. No chance of a permanent full forward spot back then when there were champions like Fidgey in the goall square.

Mate to get a game is those days was something to be proud of as the standard was very high and John Fidge was the last GFC full forward to bag 100 . I played lower grade footy for Adelaide Uni but never had enough natural talent to take it further. Can you tell if the GFC has a past player association ? If yes are they very active. Attending games these days its amazing how few past players around compared to days gone by.

Yes there is a past player association. I think Alan Bartlett still runs it. Most home games in the Cricketers Club there is a past players function. You can also see past players like Robbie Walter, Fidgey, Rouv, Scooter, Symo on the hill. Like the supporters, they'll come back if the club starts winning. The best thing we can to do is get on board, make sure mates join the club and get to all games to support. It was obvious last year that the players lifted when they felt there was some substantial support for them at the games.

Lots of f*ck this f*ck that in his speeches at 1/4 & 3/4 time, he didn't sound that inspiring but it was just a trial and he was right we should be trying things out, i will be listening to his speech for 1/4 & 3/4 time in round one of our first league clash to see if he can help inspire the boys to victory or if we don't need him to....
